Intro

The 25-words-or-less summary:

The purpose of this blog is to share information about cats/kittens available for adoption from the Muhlenberg County Humane Society.

The longer version:

I've had cats nearly my whole life, and the parts where I didn't have them were noticeably emptier. Currently I have two senior cats: litter mates named Elsa and Tao. Soon, we will foster kittens/cats from our local Humane Society.

If you're a cat person, I don't have to explain the "why" of cat fostering. (If you aren't a cat person, you may want to stop now, because that's all this blog will be.) Besides the benefit of "another cat in my house," there are added bonuses for fostering. First, the foster cat gets socialized. This is important for kittens especially, as they can get one-on-one human attention, as well as experience with other animals. If the cat lives off-site from the shelter, then there is more space for another animal needing rescue. And finally, the foster family can give testimony about the cat to anyone interested in adopting: its personality, experiences, preferences. While the first two reasons helped convince me that fostering was the right thing for me, the final one is what prompted this blog. If I could provide more info about the cat through regular updates, it might help him/her find a forever home.

So that's why we're here today. If you read about a cat you are interested in adopting, please contact the folks at Muhlenberg County Humane Society in Greenville, KY. Please note that while Elsa and Tao will be featured in the blog, they are not for adoption. We've been together too long, and they know far too much about me 😸
